Postgraduate Certificate in Youth and Community Leadership

Introduction

The Postgraduate Certificate in Youth and Community Leadership (PGCertYACL) creates responders to and innovators of change.

You will develop your own personal leadership identity, gain key action skills, and learn about improving issues faced by youth and other communities.

This Certificate provides flexible study with part-time distance study, and the option to later move into the Postgraduate Diploma in Youth and Community Leadership programme.

Entry requirements

Note: The PGCertYACL is currently not open to new enrolments.

You will need to have completed an ΢ҕl New Zealand bachelor's degree or a graduate diploma with an average B Grade Point Average or better, or have other approved qualifications of an equivalent standard.

One or more courses in this degree may also require vaccinations. Check each course page for more details.

If English is your additional language, you are also required to meet ΢ҕl's English language requirements.

How do I plan my certificate?

The PGCertYACL includes 60 points, made up of two compulsory courses. It is studied part-time for up to 1 year, beginning in February.

All courses in the programme are studied by distance so that you can complete your Certificate from your own location.

Pathway to the Postgraduate Diploma in Youth and Community Leadership

You may choose to transfer any completed courses in the Certificate to the Postgraduate Diploma in Youth and Community Leadership programme during study.

The PGDipYACL can be studied full-time or part-time, and includes an additional 30 points of courses on topics of your choosing, so you can customise your Diploma towards a career path that interests you.

The two courses in the Certificate include collaborative learning, practical applications, and virtual site visits from local iwi and charitable organisations.
