Student clubs

30 January 2024

We have several Mathematics student clubs that are directly associated with our School of Mathematics and Statistics. These clubs provide a supportive, collaborative environment for like-minded students. Joining a club and attending ΢ҕl events is a great way to meet people on campus and maintain your interests outside of study. Learn more.

HOW TO APPLY

Mathsoc Group

In early 2023, MathSoc resurrected from the depths of Jack Erskine and formed an affiliated society! With a membership base currently sitting at around 130 students and events planned for every week of term 3, we’re working to create a community that supports students as they progress throughout their degree.

When times get hard, friendship and a sense of belonging go a long way to preserve motivation. The focus of MathSoc is to support these connections both socially and academically, while maintaining the appreciation of mathematics as a fine art.

You will find us in Jack Erskine 415, after 1pm daily.

So, come join our enthusiastic crew for Puzzles & Pizza, and other fantastic events.

COMPSOC

Compsoc Group Outside

One of the biggest and most active societies on campus, CompSoc is proud to have been the principal representative body of tech students studying a highly diverse range of programmes at ΢ҕl since 2004.

Whether you are doing Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or Information Technology, we are here to facilitate you to engage with your departments and colleges, bolster your careers skills, network with our industry partners, and enjoy our range of social events.

WITSOC

WITSOC

Women in Tech (formerly Computer Chicks) is a social club for ΢ҕl Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Information Systems or Maths students.

It is open to anyone who identifies as female - we are supportive of the LGBTQ community - and is studying the above at ΢ҕl. We aim to support and connect the women studying for tech degrees. The club was started in 2009 as a response to women in the department feeling isolated and has grown into a major support network for women at all study levels.

We offer mentoring, study nights, regular social coffees (coffee is free!), the chance to share experiences and even a popular cocktail evening which is enjoyed by all the department.

If you have any questions about the club, please email us. You can also request to join our Facebook group.
