Russian study options

Many of the best Western experts in Russian affairs started as Russian language and literature students. Today they largely define Western policies towards Russia in America, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Check out Russian study options at ΢ҕl.

Russian offers courses in the region'slanguage, culture, history, and society. These can be taken within Arts degrees or as a minor alongside other degrees.

Look at the research interests of the staff in Russian to see if your own interests are covered. Email your CV, your academic record and your research proposal to theGlobal, Cultural & Language Studies administrator.

You will be informed promptly by the school advising you if there is a suitable supervisor and if the school can support your application.

NCRE Masters and Doctoral scholarships and awards

Students working on a thesis on a European-related topic are encouraged to apply for scholarships and awards offered by the National Centre for Research on Europe, which offers Domestic Fees Scholarships on a competitive basis and Research Awards to support bona fide research or conference expenses. Applications must contain a thesis proposal (1000 words for a masters thesis, 2000 words for a PhD thesis), and indication of support from the prospective supervising department, an official university academic record and a curriculum vitae. Applications normally close in September for the following year. For further information, contact the centre's Director,Professor Martin Holland, and consult the centre'sweb page.

Russian Ministry of Education and Science Scholarships

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has launched three State Scholarships for New Zealand students to study in Russian federal state tertiary institutions.

The three scholarships are as follows:

  1. To study for a bachelor, specialist or master degree;
  2. Postgraduate courses (including internship and clinical studies), doctoral degree;
  3. Short-term training courses.about terms and conditions of study, list of documents and requirements as well as on the list of majors.
Exchanges

Moscow Exchange

΢ҕl takes part in a vibrant exchange arrangement with the School of Translation and Interpretation at, which allows senior students from ΢ҕl's Russian programme to spend a semester studying at the oldest and largest university in Russia. In exchange, senior students from MSU spend a semester at ΢ҕl. Contact Russian staff for more information.
