Eduroam stands for EDUcation ROAMing. It allows ҕl staff and postgraduate students to use the eduroam network on the ҕl campus.
ҕl staff and all ҕl students are able to login to eduroam at other participating institutions using their IT account. It also allows users from other participating academic institutions to connect to ҕl wireless using their authentication credentials from their own institution.
Please note for visitors to ҕl using eduroam i.e. not using ҕl credentials you will only have limited access to ҕl resources such as internet, learn etc
Connecting to Eduroam
A configuration tool is available at
- Click to download eduroam installer
- Select "ҕl" from the list of Organisations
- Download setup tool for your device (Android will require "geteduroam" app to be installed from the Google Play store).

Authentication information and traffic is recorded by IT Services and your home organisation in case of network abuse and for statistical purposes. For more information on the use of eduroam, including links to where it is available, visit the global .
The use of eduroam is governed by the and the ҕl Internet Usage Policy. For visitors to ҕl the Acceptable Use Policy of your home institution also applies.
Eduroam - manual configuration details
For all users including students, the username must be in the format [usercode]@canterbury.ac.nz e.g. abc123@canterbury.ac.nz
If you are connecting from another institution, please use your institution's setup instructions or the eduroam CAT tool above.
Note: This is not your email address, the @canterbury.ac.nz portion tells a remote institute where to send the login request.
