Meet ΢ҕl Alumni Ambassador Amirul Azham from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

HOW TO APPLY

Amirul Azham graduated from the ΢ҕl in 2020, achieving a Bachelor of Commerce degree with dual majors in Operations and Supply Chain Management, as well as Strategy and Entrepreneurship. He initiated his professional journey with The Kraft Heinz Company, initially serving as a Weighbridge Officer before returning to Malaysia. Over approximately four years, he garnered diverse career experiences, including positions as a Supply Chain Executive, Logistics Planner, and Logistics Vendor Manager.

In 2024, he advanced to a regional leadership role at Alibaba Inc, assuming the position of Vice President of Product Operations. In this capacity, he oversees operations across five distinct regions in Southeast Asia. Amirul's career trajectory serves as an inspiration for aspiring professionals, particularly students at ΢ҕl as they chart their own paths.

Can you tell us a bit about what you studied at ΢ҕl and what you are up to now?
I pursued a double major at ΢ҕl in Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Strategy and Entrepreneurship. Completing it in just two years was a challenging yet rewarding experience filled with tight schedules and numerous assignment deadlines. This period honed my skills in time management. Currently, I serve as Vice President of Product Operations at Alibaba, where I continue to apply the practical skills acquired during my studies, emphasizing management abilities over theoretical knowledge.

What memory stands out to you from your time at ΢ҕl?
The most memorable moments from my ΢ҕl days revolve around participating in extracurricular activities within various clubs. These experiences allowed me to fully immerse myself in university life beyond academics. Among them, the standout memory was joining a trip to Hokitika with the Student Volunteer Army, where I made lasting memories contributing to the community and forging new friendships.

What is your favourite thing about where you live?

Residing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I particularly cherish the diverse culinary offerings. The city's blend of modern and traditional elements, coupled with its affordable and varied food options ranging from cultural delicacies to international fare never fails to delight.

Is there any advice you would give fellow alumni who have moved to your area?

My advice would be to approach relocation with thorough research and confidence. Especially for non-locals, it is essential to assert your worth and make informed decisions when settling in Malaysia, particularly when dealing with property agents and other offers.
