Rodney Newton Broad (also known as Charles Rodney Broad) was born in New Zealand in 1948 and graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts with Honours from Canterbury University School of Art in 1968. He also completed study at the Christchurch Teachers College in 1969.
Broad currently lives in Australia, where he lectured for 17 years in the Sculpture Department at the Tasmania School of Art, University of Tasmania. Broad has worked as a sculptor, printmaker and designer, exhibiting widely throughout Australia and has completed a number of commissioned sculptures.
