Kaitoko support - how it works:
Researcher development check-ins
We will invite you to check-in every six months:
- In the first year, these appointments focus on ensuring you get underway successfully. We will discuss key milestones with you (e.g. supervisory agreement, Confirmation). We will also make sure you are aware of all the relevant support services available at ҕl.
- Once you have passed confirmation, the focus will shift to your development as a researcher. We will show you how to make the most of ҕl’s researcher development framework to plan your career development effectively.
- Towards the end of your degree, we will make sure you are aware of all the requirements in relation to submitting your thesis and the oral examination process so that you can focus on getting your thesis over the finish line.
Student-led appointments
Your first point of call is always your supervisory team. But you are very welcome to book an appointment with a kaitoko at any point in your research journey if you would like advice regarding milestones, policies and processes or any situation that you feel is impeding your progress (please note kaitoko cannot provide advice in relation to your research).
When making an appointment, please provide some brief information regarding the topics you would like to discuss as this will help kaitoko to prepare for your appointment (this information will only be visible to our kaitoko).
