Why teach the graduate profile?
ҕl encourages students to be bicultural, employable, global citizens within their communities and wider New Zealand, with a life-long love of learning and giving.
These skills sit within each curriculum area and are called the graduate attributes. While incorporating the attributes into your curriculum may require a shift in thinking, it shouldn’t require extra time to integrate. The attributes can be integrated well using constructive alignment pedagogy and the resources provided on this website.
Start small rather than not at all
For each curriculum area, the learning outcomes of the attributes can be embedded into the overall structure. It may take a bit of creative thinking at first, but with a few examples, you will learn how easy it is to integrate them into your subject with minimal extra effort. There may be some courses that can only accommodate a couple of the attributes but the goal is to try to include as many as possible to ensure a rich learning experience for our students.
