Arts, Fine Arts & Music Undergraduate Scholarships

΢ҕl offers a range of scholarships to help our undergraduate students study at ΢ҕl. Have a look at some of the Arts, Fine Arts and Music undergraduate scholarships available.

HOW TO APPLY

This is a summary list of many of the ΢ҕl Scholarships that are available for students enrolled in an undergraduate degree in the Arts, Fine Arts or Music disciplines at ΢ҕl.

Each scholarship has different eligibility criteria so check the details of each one to find out if you're eligible.

These scholarships are subject to funding availability and are reviewed each year. The΢ҕl Scholarships Office administers most of these scholarships. Please search ourfor all scholarships currently available.

Value:Financial assistance at a value which varies but is a maximum of $2,500 for one year.

Details:To support students in Te Kura Kōwaiwai | School of Fine Arts at Te WhareWānanga o Waitaha | ΢ҕl.

Closing date:01 November

Value:Financial assistance up to $5,000 for one year

Details: Applicants must be in the final year of study towards an undergraduate degree undertaking study relevant to a career in journalism (including business writing, journalism or communications); and show an intent to build a career in business journalism. Applicants must be ΢ҕl New Zealand citizens, permanent residents or holders of a valid refugee visa. NB: this is a scholarship.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $1,000

Details: Supports students of Art History and Theory at ΢ҕl who have a serious health condition.Applicants must be enrolled in at least one 100-, 200-, or 300-level course in Art History and Theory at the University.Applicants must have a serious health condition, excluding a Specific Learning Difficulty, that qualifies them for registration with the University'sStudent Accessibility Service, and/orSpecial Consideration

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $1,000

Details:Supports students of French at ΢ҕl who have a serious health condition.Applicants must be enrolled in at least one 100-, 200-, or 300-level course in French at the University.Applicants must have a serious health condition, excluding a Specific Learning Difficulty, that qualifies them for registration with the University'sStudent Accessibility Service, and/orSpecial Consideration.

Value:Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, at a value of $2,500 for one year

Details:Supports studentsstudying in classical literature at ΢ҕl. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate Greek and Latin course.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 for one year

Details:To support undergraduate and postgraduate honours students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | ΢ҕl who have an interest in the energy needs of ΢ҕl New Zealand.Applicants must be enrolled full-time at the University in the third or fourth year of a programme for an undergraduate degree or a postgraduate honours degree with a major in an Economics, Engineering, or Science subject, or in another subject of relevance to the energy needs of ΢ҕl New Zealand. Applicants must be ΢ҕl New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $10,000 for one year

Details: To assist and encourage students enrolled in a Music programme of study at ΢ҕl, towards a career in music.Applicants must be enrolled, or intending to enrol, full-time at the University in a degree programme with a major in Music.Preference is given to applicants who intend to enrol for, or are enrolled for, an MusB(Hons), BA(Hons) in Music, MMus, MA in Music, DMA, or PhD in Music. Applicants must be ΢ҕl New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.

Closing date:01 November

Value: Tuition fees at the domestic rate, for one year.

Details: To reward the academic achievement of full-time students about to enter the final year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in the School of Fine Arts at ΢ҕl.

Closing date: 31 October

Value:Financial assistance to the value of $2,000 for one year.

Details:Tosupport students of violin, viola, cello, or double-bass in Te Kura Puoro | School of Music at ΢ҕl. At the time of accepting the scholarship, a recipient must have already successfully completed at least one year of such study in the school.

Closing date: N/A - no application required. All students who have been enrolled in a course that involved the study of violin, viola, cello, or double bass, and who will be progressing to a further year of such study at ΢ҕl, will be considered for the scholarship.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $3,000.

Details:To support and encourage excellence within students studying in their final year of a BFA, BFA(Hons) or an MFA at ΢ҕl.Applicants for the award will need to include a submission of recent sculptural work and proposal for work to be undertaken for that year.

Closing date:Applications must be made to the Senior Lecturer in Sculpture early in Term 1 in the year of the award.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $3,000 per annum for up to two years.

Details: To recognise academic achievement in subjects based on pure and applied mathematics at the undergraduate level and supports students of Economics and Finance at ΢ҕl.Preference is given to applicants whose transcripts show a strong background in Mathematics or in Statistics or other areas of applied mathematics. Applicants must be in the final year of a programme at the University for an undergraduate degree with a major in either Economics or Finance (or both).

Value:Financial assistance at the value of $2,000

Details: Supports travel to Japan, to enable the holder to advance their study of and acquaintance with the culture and people of Japan.Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled at the ΢ҕl in one or more 200- or 300-level courses in Japanese language; and may not have previously lived in Japan.

Value: Financial assistance at the value of $3,000

Details: To support Māori and Pacific students who are studying towards an Indigenous Narrative minor in the Bachelor of Digital Screen with Honours at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | ΢ҕl. Applicants must have whakapapa Māori and/or Pacific, and/or Indigenous and must be enrolling in TAKI101 in the year of tenure.

Closing date: 31 January

Value: Financial assistance at the value of: (a) $5,000 (Category A awards); (b) $2,500 (Category B awards); (c) $1,000 (Category C awards)

Details: To recognise and support high-achieving 200-, 300-, or 400-level students majoring in Applied Data Science, Computational and Applied Mathematical Sciences, Data Science, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics at the ΢ҕl. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 60 points of the above courses (not including any thesis course).
