Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning Early Childhood

Here's what you need to know if you've enrolled or are busy enrolling in ΢ҕl's Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning Early Childhood programme.

HOW TO APPLY

If you are already enrolled, either as a campus or distance student, you can log intoMy Timetablefor timetables (including OSI), live information and room numbers.

Start dates all students - on campus and distance

  • Your programme of study starts onMonday 27 January. If you are fully enrolled, you will be able to start accessing online resources via ourfrom this date.
  • FromMonday 27January– Friday 31 January,you will be required to attend acompulsory On-site intensive and Orientation programme in Christchurch.This will provide opportunities to meet fellow students and staff, develop study skills and learn about the qualification, the Faculty and ΢ҕl.
  • On your first day,Monday 27January, you will arrive on Ilam campusat 8:30am C Block,to register and prepare for the Mihi whakatau (a formal welcome ceremony).Information about Mihi whakatau, including appropriate attire, can be found on our website.
  • Yourwill provide confirmed times for required attendance.
  • The compulsory orientation is an important introduction to ΢ҕl'sFaculty of Educationand being a student here. You will meet fellow students and staff, learn study skills and have the structure of the qualification explained. You will, in the orientation period, begin some of your courses.
  • Distance studentslast activity finishes 5pm, Friday 31 January.
  • Please note noho marae occurs in semester two for this programme.

International students

  • International pre-service teachers must attend an International Orientation session, details of this session will be provided via email.
  • The compulsory orientation is an important introduction to ΢ҕl'sFaculty of Education and being a student here. You will meet fellow students and staff, learn study skills and have the structure of the qualification explained. You will, in the orientation period, begin some of your courses.
  • In addition to the compulsory orientation, International students are also invited to attend aninternational student welcomeand orientation activities. Information can also be found atInternational Student Support.

Courses

The Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood) is a 1 year full-time programme offered on campus (c) or distance (d) and is made up of the following compulsory courses:
