BSNS228 ΢ҕl Tour to Southeast Asia

This three-week study tourwill take students to three Southeast Asian countries: Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It focuses on the opportunities and challenges for organisations wishing to conduct business in these countries, including similarities and differences in business practices and culture.

Programme Information

The core of the programme involves business visits and meetings in three cities:

  • Singapore (4 nights)
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (9 nights)
  • Jakarta, Indonesia (6 nights)

In addition, it includes a range of cultural activities, including a two-night trip to Melaka in Malaysia, as well as free days to explore each city on your own.

The course itself has a deeply practical focus, including a project where you will explore a business opportunity in the region. There is also a strong focus on preparing you to function effectively across cultures in your future careers and lives.

While the study tour component is three-weeks long, the course also consists of activities and assessment beforehand and afterwards.

The study tour is part ofBSNS228, which is a 15-point 200-level course.

BSNS228tuition fee plus a $2,500fee*which covers flights, accommodation, and programme-related activities (food and other expensesareadditionaland to be paid directly by participants).

* This is a subsidised fee using the ΢ҕl Business School Global Experience Award. This award only applies to Bachelor of Commerce students who have not already received the Global Experience Award. If you are from another degree or have already received the Global Experience Award, the fee will be $4,000.

The$2,500 fee is a reduced fee, with ΢ҕl Business School subsidising the actual cost via the ΢ҕl Business SchoolGlobal Experience Award for those who are eligible.

Māori and Pacific students may also be able to receive aGlobal Experience Award - Māori and Pacific studentsvalued at $1,000 to further subsidise the cost.

If you are eligible for a student loan or allowance at ΢ҕl, you should continue to be eligible for the study tour, provided that you meet the requirements of.

120 points completed at ΢ҕl, including ECON104 and a further 15 points from Schedule V of the BCom.

In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria above, students mustprovidea personal statement when applying for the programme, which will betaken into accountindeterminingwho is selected toparticipatein it.Thebasis ofselectionwill bedemonstratedacademic achievement in the form of an applicant’s GPA and the quality of the personal statement. Equal consideration will be given to both criteria.

΢ҕl Business School CQ Certificate

This is an approved experience under the ΢ҕl Business School CQ Certificate. Students who complete the experience, as well as meet all other requirements, will receive a ΢ҕl Business School CQ Certificate.
