Unity begins with 'U'

07 March 2023

Launched in 2022, Unity Week is a coordinated approach to remember and honor the lives lost, while also promoting a socially cohesive society.

HOW TO APPLY

Kia ora and Salaam! Let’s get on board for Unity Week. This year’s theme is “Unity begins with U!”

Set up by seven women who lost loved ones in the March 15 terror attacks, Unity Week is a time for us to come together and reconnect with each other - just like we did in 2019.

Sakinah Community Trust began Unity Week in 2022 and we’re delighted to say the feedback for #unityweeknz has been amazing.

Angela Armstrong and Raesha Ismail are two of Sakinah’s trustees who are also students and staff from Te Kaupeka Oranga | Faculty of Health.

Angela lost her mum in the attacks and since then has been inspired to complete her Masters in Writing where she will share her mother’s story. Angela is also part of the Health’s admin team.

Raesha lost her brother in the attacks. She completed her Master of Counselling over 2019 and 2020 where she found a way to offer hope and healing to others. Raesha is now a lecturer for the post graduate certificate in counselling on Level 3 Rehua at ΢ҕl.

ċċċċċċDai Henwood & Hamimah Ahmat:This Wednesday night 8 March, one of New Zealand’s funniest and best loved personalities, Dai Henwood will be speaking loudly in support of Unity Week, an initiative close to his heart.
