10 July 2023

Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | ΢ҕl (΢ҕl) introduces Young Alumni Awards as part of its 150th Anniversary.

HOW TO APPLY

The Young Alumni Awards acknowledge the accomplishments of ΢ҕl graduates and students who are the next generation of leaders and changemakers. The awards celebrate their contributions to their profession, community or chosen field of expertise.

“I am pleased to announce the ΢ҕl Young Alumni Awards during our 150thanniversary year,” saysAmokapua | Assistant Vice-Chancellor Brett Berquist.“Our anniversary theme is Ka titiro whakamuri, ki te anga whakmua - guided by the past, shaping the future.

“΢ҕl is closely connected with Ōtautahi Christchurch and Waitaha Canterbury as we have seen through our Community Impact Report. Over half of NCEA qualifying students in Canterbury choose ΢ҕl and half of our graduates join the workforce here. These awards will recognise the next generation of leaders and their contribution to our community. They will be presented during our Alumni & Friends Open Weekend on Saturday 28 October.”

From making an impact regionally to changing the world internationally, these awards recognise graduates and students aged 35 or under for their passionate mahi in their field of expertise.

“I encourage everyone in our community and beyond to nominate a young ΢ҕl graduate or student for an award. This is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate their significant work and positive impact,” Berquist says.

Nominations for the awards open today and will close on Monday 7 August.
