DUPLEXITYfeatures three newly commissioned works by young New Zealand composers Liam Furey, Georgina Palmer and Robin Watson, as well as a new work by Kurano.

Originally from Japan,Kuranohas established himself in ҕl New Zealand as a versatile violinist, violist, pianist, composer and conductor.He graduatedwitha Bachelor of MusicinPerformance and Compositionfrom the ҕllast yearand continued with an honours degree this year.
Kurano alreadyhas a long list of performing credits to his namein New Zealand, Vietnam and Japan.Awards include the Lilburn Trust Award in 2020 for the compositionAlien Abduction Suite, the 2019 NZTrio composing competition forFantail in Tokyoand NZ Harp Duo composition competition wins in 2016 and 2017.
This isn’tKurano’sfirst time on the road. In January 2021, the Baroque Music Community and Educational Trust of New Zealandcommissioned himto compose a 15-minuteConcerto Grossofor their 2021 Baroque summer workshop and tour. The work was the final piece in the programme on the 11-concerttour andwas metwith numerousstanding ovations.PeterMechencalled ita “splendid work”in a reviewfor Middle-C.
