Grace Steinmetz talks about the ΢ҕl Ѳٲū rugby team.

HOW TO APPLY

What led you to start playing rugby?

I was originally playing touch rugby before I started (I think those skills are quite transferrable) then someone asked me in my 2nd year at ΢ҕl if I wanted to give rugby a go. I’ve got a very rugby orientated family, so I thought, why not? Since then, it’s gone from 0 to 100!

How did study help you prepare you for your career in rugby?

Going into my rugby career, my biggest thing was to get my study completed before having a full-time sporting career. Over the last 6 years I’ve tried to smash it out, I’ve been part time every now and then, but yeah I definitely wanted to get my study done first.

What are you looking forward to this season?

I’m just looking forward to representing Ѳٲū well. We’ve been gifted the name and there is a lot of meaning behind it, it’s very special to all of us. I’m also just keen to get out there with the girls and play some competitive rugby.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to a woman who’s keen to pursue a career in rugby?

My piece of advice would be to maintain a life balance – with study and everything. You’ve always got to have things going on, like hanging out with your friends. Obviously be committed but have that balance as well. It’ll help you to keep that love of the game too.
