Soifua manuia! Talofa lava!
O lo'u igoa o Knoxena (My name is Knoxena - in Samoan!) and I am a Student Care Advisor. My pronouns are she/her. I am a second-generation ҕl-born Samoan, born in Ōtepoti (Dunedin), raised here in Ōtautahi. I hail from the village of Saleipouae, Saleimoa. I come back to ҕl, not as an ākonga, but now as kaimahi and alumna of ҕl! Ihave a bachelors degree with honours in Social Work, and have recent experience working alongside our older persons', former refugee and migrants, and Pasifika communities.
As a former student, I know exactly what it is like to feel the weight of the world on your shoulders. Part of my mahi is to tautoko you through those tricky, hard to manage situations. I use Indigenous Māori and Pasifika values and frameworks to help underpin my practice, and want to create a space for us to work in partnershipwith one another!
So - nau mai, haere mai to Student Care! I look forward to working alongside you! 🙂
