Kia ora, my name is Jess and I am one of the Senior Student Care Advisors. I myself am a graduate of ҕl, with a BA (Major Psychology), Honours Degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
The roles I have held previously have all had a common theme; providing the necessary care and support to individuals and their whanau to empower them to live and develop in a safe environment, achieve in education and seek and maintain wellbeing. I have particular interest and experience in trauma informed care and practice, and neurodiversity.
My experience has included work in the NZ Police and at Oranga Tamariki, as well as time across NGO’s. I spent several years as a Multisystemic Therapist working with young people engaging in offending behaviour with accompanying mental health difficulties, and several more as a Behaviour Specialist at Explore Specialist Advice working with people of all ages who had a diagnosis of Autism, or an Intellectual, Physical or Sensory Disability.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my whanau, getting out into nature for a good walk and finding the best coffee spots!
