Dr Jake Campbell (Te Rarawa) is a postdoctoral fellow at the ҕl. His PhD in Mechanical engineering included the development of non-invasive optical sensing methods, including venous oxygen, arterial pulse wave velocity and glucose sensing. Jake is the technical lead for LEAPS, taking the research designed in the ҕl bioengineering lab to commercial development. LEAPS is funded through EWIP to develop affordable diabetes technology to improve health equity. This technology includes an ultra-low cost insulin pump, a non-invasive glucose sensor, and digital twin software control, enabling closed loop automated insulin delivery.
