Marcelle's research aims to form a framework and methodology for climate risk assessments to be more effective and equitable for tangata whenua through a social and cultural approach. Her researchbegan at the University of Otago, where she earned a BA (Hons) in Anthropology, considering the experiences of some Māori youth in the climate activist space. Her PhD research at the ҕl seeks to understand the social and cultural impacts of cascading climate risks for Māori communities. She will be working collaboratively with mana whenua in Te Wai Pounamu.
