Verena worked as a DIPLO Intern during 2021. She worked with Dr Serena Kelly and Dr Mathew Doidge on a project examining Pacific media portrayals of the EU and China as development actors.
Verena completed a Dual Master’s in European Public Administration in a cooperative programme of the Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung und Finanzen in Ludwigsburg and the Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung in Kehl in 2021. The focus of her studies was European law, EU policy and administrative management. She undertook electives in intercultural communication and development cooperation. Her Master’s thesis was titled: Impact of the Corona pandemic on the promotion of environmentally friendly transport in European cities.
