Top 80 position for ҕl in 2023 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings
Times Higher Education (THE) have released their Impact Rankings for 2023 and we are delighted to see the ҕl (ҕl) ranked among the top 80 universities worldwide.
We are pleased with this result, awarded following increasing global competition, which reflects the University’s commitment to sustainability action across research, education, engagement and operations, and the priorities of our Strategic Vision 2020-2030.
The ranking assesses our response to sustainability issues framed within the United Nation (UN)’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For 2023, four of the categories ҕl submitted for consideration were ranked in the Top 100:
54= for SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
13 for SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
96 for SDG 14: Life Below Water
81= for SDG 15: Life on Land
The University received an overall score of 89.6 and a global institutional ranking of 77=.
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production was our highest ranking at #13.
The result reflects the University’s work in converting coal boilers to biomass and, alongside construction partner Dominion, our commitment to meet – and in some instances exceed - a goal to reuse or recycle 75% of materials removed from buildings undergoing refurbishment on our Dovedale Campus, including the demolition of the old gymnasium.
What’s next? Improving on these results in 2024.
We will continue to create and share solutions to the challenges facing our world today. Take a look on this website at everything we are currently doing in this space.
